Grants & Scholarships

The Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation was created to support students regardless of means or background. The Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation has created scholarships and grants to support Gamma Iota Sigma members in the areas of Professional Development, Chapter Support, Mental Wellness, and Accessibility.

Professional Attire Scholarships help to reduce the financial barrier for student members to purchase professional attire while interacting with industry partners at conferences, career fairs, interviews, internships, and/or jobs. Eligible students who apply and are selected will be awarded a virtual gift card through Giftogram. Applications will be accepted twice per academic year.

The Foundation strives to ensure that GIS members can attend Grand Chapter events such as Leadership Symposium, Annual Conference and Regional Conference. Travel scholarships are awarded to students, based on need, on a rolling basis and each event requires a separate application.

At-Large Members and Collegiate Members may be considered for the travel scholarship. Collegiate Member nominations should be submitted by the Faculty Advisor or an Executive Officer. Chapters may nominate up to two students per event.

Regional Conference Application Window: October 1 – January 22

To reduce financial hardship and empower current Gamma Iota Sigma chapters, the Foundation provides Chapter Development Grants. These grants range from $250-$1,000 and will be distributed throughout the school year for programming, leadership and professional development and membership dues. Applications should be submitted by chapter leadership.

Chapter Expansion Grants reduce financial barriers in the expansion of new GIS chapters. Through the Foundation, support will be provided by paying the chapter chartering fee, subsidizing membership dues for up to 20 members and travel expenses for chapter leadership to attend the Annual Conference, and supplying a recruitment toolkit to attract members. Applications can be submitted by students or faculty.

If your school is interested in starting a new GIS Chapter, please reach out to Nikia.Stowe@gammaiotasigma.org to learn more about the process.
